Introduction

New Vienna, as its description states, is roleplay and writing forum open to all.

We trace our origins back to the WoW-centric community of the World's End Tavern Roleplay Forums, but have since expanded our horizons in hopes of creating a large and vibrant coterie, comprised of writers of all tastes and talents. In essence, we are a writer's guild. Although our membership is currently under twenty members, our corridors are home to a number of active roleplay threads and regularly updated independent works. Recently, we unveiled our own homegrown roleplay setting, the fantasy world of Calmargur.

Looking to join up? We're always welcoming new members. If you've got something to contribute, simply create an account and begin posting. Don't be shy - we're not a scary bunch.

Much of our planning and OOC silliness occurs by way of a group discussion in the [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] program. The software may be downloaded for free at the link provided above. If you're interested in joining, contact me at [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], and have an answer prepared to the conundrum of whether or not orc balls are hairy.

Rules

Although we're a casual bunch, we still ask that you follow some basic tenets if you plan on being an active member. Listed below, in relative order from most to least important, they are:

1. Respect other members' identities. Genuinely malicious remarks of racism or misogyny will result in being banned. Debate over religious and political topics is tolerated, so long as it remains civil.

2. Respect other members' work. As much as you might like to open up about how horrible you think a certain individual's writing is, realize that everyone on this forum is a human being with feelings and opinions. Criticism should remain constructive. No user should ever have to feel as though they are writing in a hostile setting.

3. Enjoy yourself. Don't take what happens here too seriously - remember, in the end, it's still a casual writing forum on the internet. What happens in New Vienna stays in New Vienna: don't let adversity over topics on the forums extend to enmity on a personal level.

Since this forum was founded by a group of 100% AMERICAN members, feel free to curse both in and out of character as much you desire.

Boy, imagine if those rules were even slightly enforced on this forum or among our group.Rolling Eyes
